Annex_Storage
Run-down of the different store rooms and cupboards in the Annex, and what is stored in them. We have quite a few stores in the Annex, and several cupboards/chests that use for storage but are movable so we reference with individual names. The main stores, and what is currently stored in them is described below, although individual small items can move between stores based on the whims of whoever is putting them away. It should also be noted that each store has a laminated page taped to the front door that has a list of what is stored inside, although these need to be updated to reflect some recent changes.
Stores:
Upper store: This store is accessed through the fire escape and is mostly used to store stage and H&S related items. It is the storage place for:
- Screws
- Power and manual tools (mitre saw, circular saw, jigsaw, electric planer, belt sander, drills, impact driver)
- PPE (hard hats, ear defenders, earplugs, high-vis jackets, rigging gloves, knee pads, masks)
- Rigging equipment (pulleys, hemp, tab rollers)
- Cleaning equipment (brooms, dustpans and brushes, and our vacuum cleaner)
- Hinges and L-brackets
- Ironmongery (door handles, tap fixings, wall support frames for shelves)
- Bolts and nuts
We also have a tool chest in Upper Store that we call George that is red on the right hand side of the store as you enter, and is very rarely moved, but is still on wheels, so be careful if you put an unbalanced load on top of his lid. George is labelled on the outside, and inside him is stored:
- Set squares
- Tape measures
- Hammers and rubber mallets
- Pliers and wire strippers
- Sandpaper
- Handsaws, both for wood and metal
- Staple guns, and staples for them
- Wood chisels
- Wrenches
Generally speaking, if a stage-related item isn't wood/building material, then it will be stored in upper store. Upper store is also generally held open with a long block of wood kept just inside the door frame of the store since the motion detector inside has a tendency to take some time to turn on the internal light.
Small store: Small store is accessed either from the main theatre room in the top-stage-left corner of the room, or from the fire escape. Small store is also a more generalist store and, depending on which show is happening and at what point in the week we are, several items may or may not be stored in small store. However, there are some fixed items that are fairly consistently stored in small store:
- The followspot trolley that holds two followspots along with their gel frames that go on the front, and three followspot support poles
- The sound desk in its case, generally stored under the table along the left hand side of the room (NEED TO ADD DESCRIPTION)
- The lighting desk in its case, generally stored under the table along the left hand side of the room (NEED TO ADD DESCRIPTION)
- The lighting desk support that is used at the back of the room for show nights
- The old followspot and case, which is still functional, but is not generally used in shows
- The Failed Under Continuous Testing area where cables, lights, tools or other electrical items that are faulty are stored until they can be inspected by a qualified individual and repaired if possible, either by the Annex officer or by sending the item off to be repaired externally
- Monitors, keyboards and mice for the sound and lighting desks
- Small dimmers are stored in the wall on the left hand side of the store
- The broken biscuits stockpile
- Blue tissue roll
- Kettle
- Community cutlery
- Two first aid kits
Inside small store are also two filing cabinets that are behind the door into the main theatre room when it is opened, and they hold:
- Stationary (pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, pencil sharpeners)
- Extension cables (NEED TO ADD THE TYPES IN HERE)
- (NEED TO ADD IN WHAT ELSE IS STORED IN THE SMALL STORE FILING CABINETS)
